Mikal Cronin is fresh off the release of his third album, MCIII, which landed this week via Merge. Now, he’s celebrating its arrival with a music video for “Turn Around.”

The Kurt Braunohler-directed clip -- which premiered on Buh, a subsidiary of the Jash YouTube channel founded by Michael Cera, Tim & Eric, Sarah Silverman and Reggie Watts -- is a hilarious spoof on Natalie Imbruglia’s video for her 1997 hit, “Torn.” It’s pretty faithful to the original, starring The Last Man on Earth actress Kristen Schaal as Imbruglia in the midst of a music video about the making of a music video. Of course, backed by a troupe of comedians, the clip takes a few creative liberties including but not limited to the arrival of a bunch of make-up artists in hazard suits and the Kool-Aid Man bursting through the wall. Watch it in the video above, and then compare it to the equally goofy original below.

MCIII follows Cronin’s 2013 sophomore effort, MCII. You can purchase the new album now over on Merge. Cronin will play the Bowery Ballroom tonight (May 5) in New York City before heading overseas for a string of European dates. He returns stateside with a pair of appearances in Chicago on June 20-21.
