Singer-songwriter Katie Crutchfield -- who goes by the stage name Waxahatchee -- dropped her great third full-length Ivy Tripp in April, and today (Dec. 2), she’s shared a video for its latest single “La Loose.”

The Naomi Young-directed clip captures Crutchfield visiting a variety of pastoral landscapes and a defunct amusement park as she delivers the deceptively cheery tune. Young had this to say about her vision for the video:

“La Loose” is a song of love and longing, though dark at its edges with feelings of ambivalence. I wanted the video to be a visual equivalent to the song lyric, “a charming picture of hysteria in love” -- a spinning emotional kaleidoscope of desire and rejection, adoration and anger, hope and despair. For this reason I set the video in mirror-twin locations: An abandoned, haunted amusement park and a thriving farm out of a beautiful dream.

Ivy Tripp follows 2013’s Cerulean Salt and Crutchfield's 2012 debut American Weekend. She has a handful of U.S. tour dates on the books. She’ll play a show in New York City tonight (Dec. 2). Then she’ll make stops in Indianapolis; Columbus, Cincinnati and Cleveland, Ohio; Royal Oak, Mich.; and Buffalo and New York City. Get ticket information right here.
