Can You Guess the Artist in This Yearbook Photo?
Do you know who this relatively clean-cut kid is? He could have ended up sitting in some cubicle in Florida (where he was born) or California (where he grew up). Instead, he plays guitar in one of the world's most popular rock bands, which is based in Seattle.
He helped form the group in 1990 with a couple of members from another band that broke up after their singer died of a heroin overdose. He was part of a side project that paid tribute to the late singer. That project included the foundation of the band that would become one of the decade's hugest.
While he's played on a couple of other side projects over the years (including another one whose singer died of a heroin overdose -- hey, it was Seattle in the '90s), none has lasted as long as his full-time group, which has released nine albums. Four of them reached No. 1.
