Bon Iver frontman Justin Vernon, who was recently featured in one of Kanye West's music videos, is following in the hip-hop artist's footsteps by releasing his own sneaker via Keep, a Los Angeles shoe company.

Vernon's idea for the sneaker is a unique twist on the Keep shoe Ramos, a picture of which can be found below. It's always fun to design your own shoe, but this project is for a good cause as well. Some proceeds will go toward Best Friends Animal Society, the nation's largest shelter for abandoned and mistreated animals.

According to the shoe company's official website, the special Bon Iver design is a limited edition product with a preorder running from now through July 1. The salmon-colored sneaker will be released in select stores worldwide come October 2012. Keep also features a shoe collection by Animal Collective.

Bon Iver just wrapped up a stateside tour and is planning to perform overseas throughout the upcoming summer and fall. Vernon also recently unveiled his new record label, Chigliak, which focuses on celebrating albums that were never commercially released.
