John Waters Will Host Burger Boogaloo

We can’t think of anyone better to host Burger Records’ annual Oakland-based music festival, Burger Boogaloo, than offbeat director, actor and artist John Waters. It’s a good thing, then, that he’ll do just that at this year’s event, iconic pencil-thin mustache and all.

This will be the first year the label’s festival will have a celebrity host, and Waters certainly fits the bill. He’ll helm an equally exciting lineup of artists this July 4 weekend, including the Mummies, the Gories, the Black Lips and the Pandoras – the latter of which will play their first public show in more than 20 years.

The largely garage-rock and power-pop label’s two-day festival will take place on Saturday, July 4 and Sunday, July 5. Then, Waters and the festival’s roster – which also includes King Khan & BBQ Show, Untamed Youth, Shannon and the Clams and more – will take over Mosswood Park in Oakland.
