Death Cab for Cutie fans will probably want to catch them on tour now, as it may be a while before you see them again.

Guitarist Chris Walla tells Billboard that he’s not sure what the band’s next move is, but he’s expecting that after their summer tour, the group will take a break. “I think a break of some kind is probably in order. It’s all malleable,” says Walla. “We could jump right back in the studio and make another record, or it could be another two or three years. We really don’t know. It remains to be seen.”

In the interim, though, there’s plenty of stage time ahead for Death Cab. The group is currently wrapping up a bunch of shows with the Magik*Magik Orchestra, and Walla says this twist on their performance has provided him with some of the best shows ever. He explains, “These are my favorite shows that we’ve played so far. Aside from what happens musically, which is totally great, Minna Choi is a fantastic arranger, the players are totally world class, [and] it’s just really fun hearing that album cycle fifteen years into the band having really different chemistry on stage. It’s not like anything we’ve ever done.”

After a quick breather in the schedule, Death Cab for Cutie resume touring on June 30 north of the border. The band kicks off the run in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario with shows booked into late July.
