As previously reported, Fleetwood Mac are the subject of a tribute album, called ‘Just Tell Me That You Want Me: A Tribute to Fleetwood Mac,’ due out next month. A few tracks from the collection have been surfacing online, one of the latest being Sonic Youth's Lee Ranaldo and Dinosaur Jr.'s J Mascis' take on the instrumental Fleetwood Mac song 'Albatross,' which you can listen to by scrolling down.

There are a bit more layers on the updated version of 'Albatross,' with Ranaldo and Mascis having a subtle guitar duel. Rising cymbals play out in the background of the bluesy framework, and while we can't say for sure, it's safe to assume Ranaldo is producing the more ambient riffs while Mascis handles the traditional guitar work. 'Albatross' was originally written by Fleetwood Mac founder Peter Green in 1969 and appeared on a couple of compilation albums from the band.

‘Just Tell Me That You Want Me: A Tribute to Fleetwood Mac’ is set to be released on Aug. 14 through Hear Music. Other acts on the disc include MGMT, Best Coast, the New Pornographers and more, with a total of 17 tracks featured on the record.
