The lineup for the 2013 edition of Bumbershoot, set for the Seattle Center from Aug. 31 through Sept. 2, has been revealed, with Death Cab for Cutie, MGMT, Alt-J, Tegan & Sara and the Breeders as just a few of the main attractions scheduled to take the stage over the Labor Day weekend. The lineup is eclectic, but something else makes this event special, and it involves Death Cab!
MGMT plan to release the follow-up to 2010's left-of-center 'Congratulations' this June. The group, which consists of Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser, acknowledges that 'Congratulations' was a shock to fans and their label after the breakthrough track 'Kids' from 2007's 'Oracular Spectacular.' It doesn't appear that they will be returning to the 'Kids' formula, though.
MGMT hit the stage of Montreal’s Osheaga festival last Friday, and in addition to the catchy nuggets of psych synth they normally turn out, the New York duo also tried its hands at a Rolling Stones classic, covering the acoustic ballad 'Angie.'
Fleetwood Mac will be the recipients of an impressive tribute album -- along with the likes of MGMT, Best Coast, the Kills and more -- covering the band's songs. Fans will get to experience the various interpretations of the British-American icons when the collection is released this fall.
From what we can hear on the bootleg viewable below, MGMT’s new song 'Alien Days’ has a gentle circus sideshow quality -- it might have soundtrack future for a show about clowns playing in an electro playground. While not quite so terrifying as that image, the video's sound quality is rather scary -- from what we can tell, though, the song's (probably) good.
