One of the best parts of SXSW is uncovering its wealth of secret shows. Myspace is sponsoring a series of surprise gigs at this year’s festival, and it was just announced that Sleigh Bells, Dillon Francis and Flying Lotus are set to perform tomorrow (March 15) at the Coppertank Events Center.
Based on true events, Sofia Coppola’s new flick ‘The Bling Ring’ stars Emma Watson and centers around a cunning group of teens who use the internet to rob celebrities’ homes. The film is slated for a June 14 release, and its trailer features ‘Crown on the Ground’ by Alexis Krauss and Derek E. Miller, aka Sleigh Bells.

A benefit for Hurricane Sandy at Terminal 5 in New York City last night brought together four bands -- Cults, the Antlers, Grizzly Bear and Sleigh Bells -- from all corners of indie rock, from the weepy to the loud. Even with the pall of the Connecticut school shootings cast over the concert, it turned out to be a powerful mix. Organizers announced several times that the sold-out show had raised more than $300,000, all going to the Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City, which continues to rebuild parts of the city devastated by Hurricane Sandy in October.
This year has been a busy one for Sleigh Bells. Back in February, the duo of Alexis Krauss and Derek E. Miller released their sophomore album, ‘Reign of Terror,’ and they've been touring extensively to promote it. The band has also unveiled plans for a brand-new record, tentatively scheduled for a 2013 release.
