The xx to Release New Album ‘Coexist’ in Fall 2012
Indie rock band the xx have revealed plans to release a new album this fall. ‘Coexist’ will be available to fans starting September 11 through Young Turks.
As Billboard reports, ‘Coexist’ was recorded over the last six months inside the band’s London studio. Jamie Smith, better known by his stage name Jamie xx, produced the record. It’s the follow-up to their successful 2009 self-titled debut.
“After a long time on the road, we took a break, created our own studio and wrote these new songs that we’re so looking forward to playing to you,” the band said in a statement.
Smith has said in the past that the new disc would sound more fun. “We’ve all come back off tour and been partying a bit more,” he told Digital Spy. “We left when we were 17 and we missed out on that chunk of our lives when everyone else was partying. Club music has definitely had an influence on the next record.”
The xx have a few U.S. tour dates in their schedule, the first since 2010. They’ll spend the majority of their trek overseas in places like Germany, Sweden, France and more.
