Last night (Feb. 5), Wilco played the first show in a two-night stand at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, and they worked in a heartfelt tribute to the late David Bowie.

Jeff Tweedy and company pulled out a cover of the 1969 classic “Space Oddity,” which gradually lifts off into a moving sing-along with their audience. Check it out at the top of the page and then compare it to the original below. This isn't Wilco's first Bowie cover since the Thin White Duke’s passing at the beginning of the year. During their set at Todos Santos Music Festival last month, the band led an all-star lineup that included R.E.M.’s Peter Buck and Mike Mills; Sleater-Kinney’s Corin Tucker; and members of the Jayhawks, the Old 97’s and the Minus 5 in a cover of “All the Young Dudes."

After their second Kings Theatre show tonight, Wilco will head to Washington, D.C.; Norfolk, Va.; Atlanta; Roanoke, Va.; and Charleston, W. Va. They’ll wrap things up with a headlining slot at this year’s Mountain Jam in Hunter Mountain, N.Y., which runs from June 2-5. View their itinerary at the band's website.

Wilco returned with their surprise album Star Wars last summer.
