Beck and Jack White, together at last.

The two oddball musicians are known for following their own musical paths, and those paths finally cross on Beck's new single, 'I Just Started Hating Some People Today,' which he recorded for White's Third Man Records. Not only that, but White makes a guest appearance on the tune, a down-home country hoedown with one foot planted firmly in 'One Foot in the Grave,' Beck's folk-leaning 1994 offering.

The other foot is on the kick pedal, as White gets behind the kit and plays drums on 'Hating,' along with contributing acoustic guitar and something called "punk vocal." We will assume he's the one screaming along during the brief punk-ish interlude near the end -- yes, the one that gets overtaken by the borderline porn soundtrack-ish jazz jam at the very end. Yes, it's a weird track with many twists and turns -- and certainly one that doesn't take itself too seriously. Considering the musicians involved here, we aren't the least surprised.

The vinyl 7" single also comes paired with the B-side 'Blue Randy,' a track we'll go ahead and assume is an ode to Viagra, although we'll have to wait for confirmation -- it's not streaming online like 'I Just Started Hating Some People Today' was earlier today. And maybe that's a good thing. Considering the collection of talent here, we'd hate to ruin all the surprises.
