While Foo Fighters fans wait for the band's next album, they can whet their appetites with a new solo outing from guitarist Chris Shiflett, who's announced plans to release his West Coast Town LP later this year.

The album, due April 14, found Shiflett working with producer Dave Cobb, who's been behind the boards for a series of acclaimed recent efforts from Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson and Chris Stapleton, among a growing list of other acts. Calling himself a longtime fan of Cobb's, Shiflett credited his presence in the studio with bringing West Coast Town to a much higher level.

"Recording with him and his crew was everything I’d hoped it would be," said Shiflett. "His input on and arrangements of my songs took them into places I wouldn’t have imagined. Plus the speed that he creates at was inspiring."

West Coast Town marks Shiflett's third solo effort, and follows the 2013 covers collection All Hat and No Cattle. Like that set, the new LP has a pronounced Bakersfield country bent, amplified by a studio combo rounded out with pedal steel guitar. He's scheduled to head out on the road for a series of tour dates in late March and early April with special guest Brian Whelan, who co-wrote four of the songs on the 10-track set.
