Dave Grohl Rumored to Be Working on New Album
Could the Foo Fighters' hiatus be ending soon, or is Dave Grohl going solo? Or maybe he's reviving Them Crooked Vultures? According to a fan who ran into him, Grohl is working on new music again.
This comes via NME, who found an Instagram post by Damien Curry, a musician who goes by the name of Mister Curry and who calls himself the "Electric Love Freedom Fighter." He recently ran into Grohl and posted a selfie of the two with the caption, "Not a bad way to start the day. I don't ever really care too much for 'famous' musicians, but my close friends know how gangster I am about Nirvana and this guy! #DaveGrohl Talked about our kids, his new record, producing...man...what a kool kat. The 12 year old in me just lost his s---. #Nirvana #FooFighters #rocknroll #music"
Back in March, following rumors that tensions between Grohl and drummer Taylor Hawkins had created a split within the Foo Fighters, the band announced that they were not breaking up with a seven-minute video that pretended to show Grohl working on a solo album as the other members looked to replace him. It concluded with them announcing, "For the millionth time, we're not breaking up. And nobody's going f---ing solo!"
The Foo Fighters' break came at the end of the promotional cycle for 2014's Sonic Highways, an album that arrived with an eight-part documentary of the band recording in eight different American cities. In the summer of 2015, Grohl broke his leg when he fell off a stage in Sweden and was forced to cancel the remaining dates on their European tour. They returned on July 4 in Washington, D.C., with Grohl sitting in a throne that, by his own admission, he designed while whacked out on painkillers.
But Grohl appears to be itching to get going again. Back in June, he performed an invite-only solo acoustic set in Cannes and, a month ago, sat in with the Prophets of Rage for a cover of the MC5's "Kick Out the Jams."
