Foo Fighters made their way to Austin last night (Oct. 9) for their second round at this year’s Austin City Limits. During their set, Dave Grohl revealed the band has recorded five new songs.

“I recorded a f---ing song in your beautiful city of Austin, Texas,” Grohl told the audience. “And I’m just gonna say it now: We recorded five f---ing new songs in your beautiful city of Austin, Texas. We’re gonna give it to you -- but not tonight.”

You can hear the audience’s audible letdown in the fan-shot video at the top of the page, but of course, in the ongoing tradition of the Foo Fighters’ Sonic Highways tour, Grohl was sure to bring out a special guest for festivalgoers. This time that cameo came from Ben Kweller.

As Grohl introduced the Dallas-area musician, he revealed the two artists bumped into each other for the first time in 16 years while the Foo Fighters were recording their new material, which ultimately led Kweller to contribute vocal harmonies to the new tunes. Kweller then joined the Foos for a “straight-up, sweet, tug-at-your-heartstrings ballad” rendition of “Big Me.”

Later in their set, Grohl and company also brought out Gary Clark Jr. to perform their Sonic Highways collaboration “What Did I Do? / God As My Witness.” Check that out below:
