Frank Ocean has signed on as musical guest for the Sept. 15 season premiere of 'Saturday Night Live,' kicking off the 38th season of the long-running NBC comedy. As Consequence of Sound reports, Ocean will appear alongside host Seth MacFarlane, creator of 'Family Guy,' and he's not the only first-rate artist prepping for the 'SNL' stage.

Following Ocean's performance, Mumford and Sons swing by studio 8H on Sept. 22, three days ahead of the release of their new album, 'Babel.' Actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt hosts. Two weeks later, on Oct. 6, it's Muse's turn, as the epic British rockers hit 'SNL' to offer some tunes from their new album, 'The 2nd Law,' which will have dropped the previous Tuesday.

Meanwhile, in other Ocean news, the singer has also been confirmed as a performer for the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards, which air live Sept. 6 on the cable network. He joins Green Day on the list of confirmed VMA performers, while Coldplay, Gotye, fun., M.I.A., Skrillex are among the leading nominees for the annual awards show.
