Gotye didn't care for the 'Glee' version of his smash hit 'Somebody That I Used to Know,' and he's not shy about speaking out against it.

'Glee' star Darren Criss and guest star Matt Bomer performed the song on the April 10 'Big Brother' episode of the show, turning the song about a failed love into a tune about sibling animosity. But Gotye says the FOX program's rendition was too generic.

The Melbourne-raised singer tells Australian outlet the Courier-Mail, "They did such a faithful arrangement of the instrumentals, but the vocals were that pop 'Glee' style, ultra dry, sounded pretty tuned and the rock has no real sense, like it's playing to you from a cardboard box." He adds, "It made it sound dinky and wrong."

Is Gotye protesting too much? After all, he had to give 'Glee' permission to use his song in the first place. Not only that, but the additional exposure 'Somebody That I Used to Know' got from appearing on 'Glee' is a big part of the reason his song advanced to No. 1 on the singles chart last week.

Even if Gotye didn't enjoy the 'Glee' cover, he'll surely enjoy the songwriting royalties he earns from the success of the show's remake, which was a huge hit on iTunes and debuted at No. 26 on last week's Billboard Hot 100.
