The Shins’ James Mercer Joins Aimee Man on ‘Kimmel’

Aimee Mann recently wrapped up a month-long North American trek with Ted Leo, and to celebrate, she swung by the ABC studios of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' last night (Nov. 19) to perform two songs: 'Labrador' and 'Living a Lie,' both from her 'Charmer' album, which dropped in September. The album version of 'Living a Lie' featured guest vocals from James Mercer of the Shins, and while Ted Leo had been handling the part during the recent tour, none other than Mercer himself turned up for the 'Kimmel!' take.

Mann and Mercer each have distinctive voices, but they came together smoothly, like a fine blended malt whiskey, during the 'Living a Lie' performance, which you can watch below. Also check out her set stellar solo run through of 'Labrador,' with minimal accompaniment from her tight four-piece backing band above.
