Motion City Soundtrack will return with their sixth full-length, Panic Stations, next month, and today (Aug. 19), they’ve premiered a music video for “Lose Control.”

The Dan Huiting-directed clip follows frontman Justin Pierre as he learns that he has a fatal reverse Midas touch. Thankfully and equally mysteriously, Pierre finds a cloaked woman who can help counteract the damage left in his wake. Check it out above (via AV Club).

“When I first heard ‘Lose Control,’ I thought of a sort of ‘super hero’ origin story, where a person learns they have a superpower,” Huiting said in a press release. “Only for Justin, he learns he can kill things that he touches.”

“We also thought it would be cool to incorporate a woman that he meets that can reverse all the things he’s killed,” the director continues. “Some of the narrative elements are a bit opaque because we didn’t want to just explain everything. It was really nice to collaborate with Justin on this, who has a really good sensibility about filmmaking in general.”

Panic Stations is due out Sept. 18 via Epitaph Records, following the band’s 2012 effort, Go. Motion City Soundtrack will embark on a tour that kicks off with a two-night residency at New York City’s Webster Hall on Oct. 17 and 18. See a complete itinerary below:
