Kaiser Chiefs Condone Squirrel Boozing In Smithwick’s Irish Ale Ad
In a new commercial for Smithwick’s Irish ale, a squirrel comes out to play once the brewery closes for the night. The minute-long clip follows the thirsty creature on his quest to brew the delicious beer — and shows him enjoying a refreshing “glass” at the end. What’s the song featured in this endearing ad?
The tune is ‘Learnt My Lesson Well’ by British indie rock greats Kaiser Chiefs. The catchy track appears on their sophomore studio release, ‘Yours Truly, Angry Mob,’ which dropped back in February 2007.
“With a heightened sense of feistiness and discontent — plus consistently improved songwriting — album No. 2 feels more substantial, especially in its most dissatisfied moments,” wrote Spin in a 2007 review of the disc. “With the antagonizing grin hinted at in its title, ‘Yours Truly, Angry Mob’ marches through its baker's dozen of punk-tinged pop songs with a prickly sense of purpose.”
You may have seen Kaiser Chiefs on the road with a number of top-name acts, including U2, Green Day and Foo Fighters. Be sure to check out their official site for a list of upcoming summer tour dates to see if they're coming to a city near you.
