Listen to LCD Soundsystem’s Third ‘American Dream’ Single, ‘Tonite’
The band previously debuted the song, which you can listen to above, during their five-night residency at Brooklyn Steel in April.
'Tonite' (technically, 'tonite') follows the album's first two singles, "Call the Police" and the title track - both of which, Pitchfork notes, frontman James Murphy called "slightly misleading" in terms of the overall tone of the album.
In 2016 the band canceled their touring schedule in Asia and Australia so that they could focus on completing American Dream. At the time, Murphy said "We’re not just having some reunion tour. we’re releasing a record (sometime this year — still working on it, actually), so this isn’t a victory lap or anything, which wouldn’t be of much interest to us."
Meanwhile, the recently-released covert art for the new album has been receiving less than stellar reviews from fans. One fan suggested “The cover of the new LCD Soundsystem album is so bad I genuinely contemplated cancelling my vinyl pre-order. But then who am I kidding etc.” (So... then why did you bring it up?)
American Dream, which arrives on Sept. 1, is LCD Soundsystem's fourth studio LP and their first full-length album of all new material since 2010's This Is Happening.
