Coachella is right around the corner, but we have some sad news to report – former Velvet Underground frontman Lou Reed won’t be playing at this year's festival.

The famed rocker was previously scheduled to perform both weekends, April 12-14 and April 19-21, but has recently cancelled. He also called off his upcoming gigs in L.A., San Francisco and Monterey, Calif. We still don’t know the reason for the cancellations, but a spokesperson from Goldenvoice said that it was “due to unavoidable complications.”

Although Reed is no longer on the lineup, festival-goers can still look forward to performances from the likes of Blur, Phoenix, the Stone Roses, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Postal Service, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the xx, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Modest Mouse, New Order, Vampire Weekend, Sigur Ros, Grizzly Bear, Franz Ferdinand, the Lumineers, Tegan and Sara, the Gaslight Anthem, Passion Pit, Dinosaur Jr., Two Door Cinema Club, How to Destroy Angels, Beach House, Alt-J, Japandroids, Stars, Of Monsters and Men, Grinderman, Bassnectar, Local Natives, James Blake, Tame Impala, Tanlines, Band of Horses, Grimes, Metric and many more.

General admission passes sold out quickly, but there are still some ticket options available – click here for more details.
