Majical Cloudz have announced they are disbanding after six years together.

Devon Welsh broke the news in a post to the band’s Tumblr. “Over the last few months Matt [Otto] and I decided that Are You Alone? would be the last Majical Cloudz record,” he writes, “and that after doing some touring we would be moving on to other projects and adventures.”

The Canadian electro-pop outfit released Are You Alone? last year. It was preceded by the band’s self-titled debut cassette in 2010, which featured Welsh alongside former bandmate Matthew E. Duffy. Duffy departed after their sophomore follow-up II in 2011. Otto joined prior to 2013’s Impersonator. Majical Cloudz just dropped their Wait & See EP in January.

“Thank you very much to everyone who has taken interest in the project, listened to the music, bought the records, come to the shows, etc,” Welsh continues, “to everyone who believed in us, gave us a chance, worked with us!”

The duo intend to carry on with other projects in the future. Welsh plans to launch a solo career, releasing new music sometime this year. Otto has adopted the stage moniker the Dahlia as his next venture, and he is currently producing records and composing a film soundtrack.

The duo will play their final show at La Sala Rossa in their hometown, Montreal, on March 11.
