A 26 year-old Brisbane man was found dead at Australia's annual Falls Music & Arts Festival in Byron Bay on Wednesday (Dec. 30).

The man was discovered unconscious and not breathing at one of the campsites in the morning, according to the Brisbane Times. An investigator said paramedics were called, but the man could not be revived. Witnesses were identified are being interviewed, although police are not treating the death as suspicious.

The festival, which kicked off on Dec. 30, runs until Jan. 3 and features the likes of Alt-J, Run the Jewels, Cold War Kids, the Black Lips and many more.

The festival posted a statement:

We’re extremely sad to report the following. On Wednesday December 31, 2014, a male was found deceased onsite at The Falls Music & Arts Festival in Byron, at this stage police are not treating it as suspicious. The deceased has been identified and relatives have been notified. A report is being prepared for the coroner and the festival cannot comment further as it is a police matter. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this terribly sad time."

As we bring 2014 to a close, we can only hope that 2015 brings about more awareness and safer festival conduct by all attendees.
