Last month, Mercury Rev announced they would return after seven years away with a new album, The Light in You. Now, they have shared plans for an East Coast tour in support of the upcoming LP.

These will mark Mercury Rev’s first electric shows in the U.S. in the seven years that have passed since their 2008 full-length, Snowflake Midnight. The run of dates kicks of on Sept. 10 in South Burlington, Vt. Then, they’ll make stops in Northhampton, Mass.; Hamden, Conn.; Boston; Philadelphia; New York City; and Washington, D.C. You can find more details at the bottom of the page. Tickets go on sale this Friday (July 24).

Mercury Rev will release the 11-track The Light in You -- their eighth album to date -- on Sept. 18 via Bella Union. At the time of the album’s announcement, the Buffalo-based outfit shared its lead single and track, “The Queen of Swans,” which can be heard at this location.

In a press release, frontman Jonathan Donahue discussed the significant break between albums. “It was one of those otherworldly life sequences,” he said. “But also, when something is worth saying, it can take a long time to say it, rather than just blurt it out.”
