My Morning Jacket Announce New Philanthropic Organization, the Waterfall Project
My Morning Jacket will release their seventh full-length, The Waterfall, in just a few short days on May 4 via ATO Records. Ahead of its arrival, the band has announced its new philanthropic organization, which is dubbed the Waterfall Project after the Louisville rockers’ forthcoming LP.
The Jim James-led outfit’s new initiative will raise money through concert tickets, merchandise sales and donations, which will in turn benefit key non-profit partners. According to a press release, the band will focus their efforts on environmental and climate issues over the course of The Waterfall's album cycle. As such, the Waterfall Project’s work will benefit Kentuckians for the Commonwealth, the Gulf Restoration Network and Climate Justice Alliance.
Along with the announcement, My Morning Jacket shared a video produced by Sonos detailing the making of their latest album, including how its cover artwork came to be. Watch it above.
Thus far, My Morning Jacket have debuted two songs from The Waterfall: “Spring (Among the Living)” and “Big Decisions.” The band also revealed that they would follow their upcoming long-player with another album in 2016.
My Morning Jacket will head out on a tour that begins on May 15 in Athens, Ga. They will also make appearances at this year’s Hangout Festival, Boston Calling, Governors Ball, Bonnaroo, Forecastle and more. Check out a complete list of stops below:
