New Songs – May 2012
May 2012 certainly is shaping up to be a big one for new songs, as fans gear up for Memorial Day barbecues and go searching for the first jams to soundtrack their summer. With all the big names out there dropping new singles, there's certainly a lot to choose from.
Songs don't get much more summery than 'National Anthem,' the new single from Lana Del Rey and latest from her 'Video Games'-introducing album, 'Born to Die.' And that's not the biggest -- or only -- major followup of the month. Gotye looks to continue the success wrought by 'Somebody That I Used to Know' with 'Eyes Wide Open,' the newest release from his massive 'Making Mirrors' breakthrough.
And there is plenty more for May 2012 where that came from. The Afghan Whigs are on the comeback trail with 'See and Don't See,' their first slab of new music in several years. Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson uses his band's hiatus to unleash 'Rosalee,' the latest single from his Chris Robinson Brotherhood project. And speaking of projects, Peter, Bjorn and John drummer John Eriksson has a new one called Hortlax Cobra, which hatched its first single, 'Berlin,' in May.
