Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds have released a trailer for their upcoming concert movie Distant Sky. Directed by David Barnard, it’ll be screened in select movie theaters for one night only on April 12. Watch the trailer above and find full screening details at the movie website.

"Recorded at Copenhagen’s Royal Arena in October 2017," the film's synopsis reads, "Distant Sky captures an extraordinary and triumphant live concert from Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds. Performing new album Skeleton Tree’s exquisite compositions alongside their essential catalogue, the band’s first shows in three years provoked an ecstatic response in fans, critics and band alike, renewing a profound and intimate relationship wherever they played. The band’s acclaimed tour started in Australia in January 2017 before tearing across the USA and ending in Europe, with some of the best reviews of their decorated career.” The show, which is presented in full, also featured a special guest appearance by Danish soprano Else Torp, who performed the title track with the band.

Much of Skeleton Tree was created as a response to the death of Cave’s son Arthur, who fell from a 60-foot cliff in 2015. Describing the period after the tragedy as “absolute emotional chaos,” Cave said, “The further we get from that time, it’s easier – it’s not always possible, but it’s easier to divide your time. There’s what we call a remembering time, then there’s time when we work and we’re able, fairly successfully, to somehow divide that up. In that remembering time, we’re in no condition to work and be with each other and all that sort of stuff. We’re getting better at that. Before, it was just chaos … We had no control over anything. It’s taken us a while to – it sounds weird to say – organize our emotions. Otherwise you just can’t live, really.”

The band have a run of summer festival dates booked across Europe.
