Pearl Jam Help Move the Late Andrew Wood’s Mother Into New Home
Pearl Jam recently tweeted about a GoFundMe crowdsourcing campaign aimed at helping Toni Wood, the mother of the late Mother Love Bone singer Andrew Wood. Wood's mother was recently living in unsafe conditions in a trailer on Bainbridge Island in Washington, while simultaneously paying for her son’s cancer treatments. Pearl Jam and their fans have rallied behind Wood to help her move into a new home.
The campaign has already reached more than $35,000 of its $50,000 goal. Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder, Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament have contributed an additional $40,000 of personal money to the cause.
Andrew Wood passed away in 1990 from a heroin overdose. That year, Wood’s friend and Soundgarden frontman, Chris Cornell, joined forces with Vedder, Gossard, Ament, Mike McCready and Matt Cameron to form Temple of the Dog as a tribute to Wood.
