Last week, Pearl Jam hinted at an upcoming “special announcement,” which seemingly has something to do with New York City. It appears that announcement may be a performance at this year's Global Citizen Festival in September.

When Pearl Jam asked fans to "stay tuned" for forthcoming news, some speculated an NYC concert; others specifically thought the alt-rockers might play the Global Citizen fest. Now -- as Alternative Nation points out -- the annual event aimed at ending poverty has added a bio for the band to its website, leading many to believe that Eddie Vedder and co. will play this year’s festival.

Of course, the website write-up is hardly official confirmation, but it could very well be a sign of Pearl Jam’s upcoming New York City-related announcement. Global Citizen Festival will take place on Sept. 26 in Central Park. MSNBC will host a live broadcast of the concert. So far, only Ed Sheeran has been announced as one of this year’s performers.

If Pearl Jam does play Global Citizen Festival, it will mark their first live performance of the year. Last month, however, Vedder joined Supersuckers on stage in Seattle for a cover of the Ramones’ “I Believe in Miracles.” Check out a video of the performance here.
