Country-rock singer-songwriter Pete Berwick has signed with Kansas City label Little Class Records and will start recording his next album at the beginning of April. When that record arrives, it will be Berwick’s first in the five years since 2011’s Give It Time.

The Illinois-based artist shared the good news in a Facebook post earlier today, March 24:

I will be in Kansas City, Mo on April 1 to begin work on my sixth album. The label is lining up some very eclectic and road-warrior musicians to back me on the record, from the trenches of rockabilly and blues and cowpunk and beyond. Couple that with my best group of songs ever, and this is going to be one hell of a recording session.

Little Class Records also expressed its excitement for Berwick to join the label's roster, calling him a “seasoned troubadour” on the forefront of the cowpunk genre.

Berwick released his debut, Only Bleeding, back in 2002. It was followed by 2007’s Ain’t No Train Outta Nashville, 2009’s Just Another Day In Hell and the singer's 2013 compilation, The Essential Pete Berwick.
