British Actor Cast as Rivers Cuomo in Upcoming ‘Detour’ Pilot

Remember how Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo is creating a pilot episode for what will hopefully be a full-blown TV series about his life? Detour was recently picked up by Fox, and now it looks like they’ve found the man who will be playing the iconically nerdy frontman: Ben Aldridge.

As Deadline reports, the British actor has previously starred in the BBC series, Our Girl, and was in London’s musical adaptation of American Psycho.

The character based on Cuomo will go by the name of Michael Sturges. Along with Aldridge, Joey Morgan has been cast for the pilot of Detour, playing Sturges' “sweet-natured, brilliant but socially anxious/awkward college roommate.”

The episode will be written by Steve Franks (who created Psych) and directed by Jeremy Garelick of The Wedding Ringer.
