"I've been away for too long," Chris Cornell sings on, well, 'Been Away Too Long,' the first track issued from Soundgarden's forthcoming comeback album, 'King Animal,' which drops Nov. 13. And for fans of the grunge goliaths, the whole band certainly has been gone for far too long: Soundgarden's last album, 'Down on the Upside,' dropped in 2006, one year before they announced they were splitting up.

Since reuniting last year, a smattering of newly recorded material has surfaced -- their 'Avengers' soundtrack contribution, a 35-second teaser for the song 'Worse Dreams,' the mystical mayhem featured on their 'King Animal' trailer -- but 'Been Away Too Long' is the first song from the album unleashed in its entirety. Scroll down and have a listen to what comeback-album-era Soundgarden sounds like.
