Last year, Wavves frontman Nathan Williams was up to his eyes in projects and releases, and he doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon. His side project with Andrew Caddick and his brother Joel Williams, Spirit Club, are currently prepping their sophomore effort, but in the interim, they’ll tide over fans with a new 7” featuring a cover of Nine Inch Nails’ ‘That’s What I Get.”

Spirit Club’s rendition of the Pretty Hate Machine track appears as the B-side of the single, which will arrive on April 15 via Williams’ own Ghost Ramp label in conjunction with its monthly subscription service. The trio dial down Trent Reznor's jilted menace and instead opt for a dreamy take with a pretty slick falsetto delivering the song’s central dejection: “I guess I’m not the only boy for you.” Take a listen below and then compare it to the original at the bottom of the page.

The 7” features a demo version of “Room to Run” on the A-side, a new song that will appear on Spirit Club’s sophomore album when it tentatively lands this summer. Spirit Club dropped their self-titled debut last year. Williams' main outfit, Wavves, returned with their excellent fifth full-length, V, in 2015, too.
