Avey Tare's Slasher Flicks sounds a lot like the name of some kind of movie production company.

MusicFestNW returns to Portland, Ore., this fall for its 13th annual run with a number of top-name acts in tow. This year’s multi-venue festival brings performances by more than 150 bands and artists — Neko Case, Young the Giant, Animal Collective and the Head and the Heart, to name a few — during the week of Sept. 3-8.

Back for its seventh annual run, the Treasure Island Music Festival returns to San Francisco’s scenic Bay Area on Oct. 19-20. This year’s two-day bash features the likes of Atoms for Peace, Beck and Animal Collective, plus dozens more.

The inaugural edition of the Mountain Oasis Electronic Music Summit is set to run from Oct. 25-27 in the heart of downtown Asheville, N.C., bringing a wealth of live music to venues including the U.S. Cellular Center, Thomas Wolfe Auditorium and the Orange Peel. The fest features Nine Inch Nails, Animal Collective and the newly reunited Neutral Milk Hotel, plus many more.

Animal Collective are readying the release of ‘Monkey Been to Burn Town,’ a remix EP featuring reworked versions of tunes from their 2012 full-length ‘Centipede Hz.’ They’ve also added a bunch of dates to their upcoming summer tour with Dan Deacon, including a newly announced show in Portland, Maine, on July 11.

After canceling a few dates on their current tour last week, Animal Collective have postponed the remaining dates on their North American jaunt because of illness. So if you had tickets for any of the seven shows still on the schedule -- we're looking at you, Minneapolis, St. Louis and Denver -- you're out of luck for now.

The 2013 edition of Camp Bisco – an annual music festival held in Mariaville, N.Y. – is set to take place from July 11-13 at the scenic Indian Lookout Country Club. This year's go-round boasts performances by Passion Pit, Animal Collective and many more.

Animal Collective's new 'Applesauce' video "is intended to be viewed in complete darkness for maximum effect," reads a press release from the band -- and doing so actually creates a pretty stunning visual effect worth checking out. On the other hand, watching the clip in the plain daylight is pretty damn unimpressive, to be completely honest.

Animal Collective continue to tour in support of last year's 'Centipede Hz' album and have mapped out a spring 2013 North American tour with label mate Dan Deacon. The trek kicks off March 7 in Boston and runs through March 23 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Animal Collective planned on performing at Williamsburg Park in Brooklyn, N.Y. tonight (Oct 5.) – however, they have been forced to cancel the show due to band member Dave "Avey Tare" Portner battling a bout of laryngitis.
