And so CMJ 2013 comes to a close. It's been a week packed with the most exciting new musical acts that NYC and the rest of the globe have to offer, and Wild Honey Pie’s Cameo Gallery showcase served as the perfect closing party on Saturday (Oct. 19).
To New Yorkers, CMJ is the place to go to discover the hottest new bands. In Hamburg, music fans rely on the annual two-day bash known Reeperbahn Festival. For the first time ever, Reeperbahn Fest has come to CMJ to help spearhead the search for new musical talent by putting on their very own showcase at the Cake Shop on Friday night (Oct. 18).
With hundreds of bands flocking to NYC to play the CMJ Music Marathon, it can be tough for gig-goers to pick which showcases to attend, but the Windish Agency and Neon Gold Records put on some impressive displays for punters on day three (Oct. 18).
Given their pitch-perfect harmonies, Au Revoir Simone picked the perfect venue, Judson Memorial Church, to showcase their talent at CMJ. The dream-pop trio stopped there yesterday afternoon for a KEXP showcase (Oct. 17), and the people did rejoice.
