The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach Auctions Off Childhood Guitar for Akron Charity
With the success the Black Keys have been gaining throughout the years, the Akron, Ohio rockers have decided to give back to the place where Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney first met.
Throughout their 'True Blue World Tour,' the band has been selling raffle tickets for a chance to win Auerbach's childhood guitar in support of the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. But if you didn't get chance to catch the guys on tour, you can still help out by heading to tbkguitar.com to buy some raffle tickets, which will be on sale until June 26, 2015.
For $10 a ticket, you'll not only be able to help the Foodbank provide 40 meals for the hungry but also have a chance to win the axe. "Dan Auerbach's childhood guitar autographed by the Black Keys, which was a gift to Dan from his father, and the instrument that the lead vocalist learned to play on. The guitar, a Supertone, was Dan's first guitar," according to the auction's website. You'll also be able to win an autographed copy of the Guitar World issue where Auerbach graces the cover.
In addition to this contest, 'The Howard Stern Show' will be broadcasting a special concert Auerbach and Carney taped in Houston earlier this year on SiriusXM's channels 100 and 101 at 11:15PM ET. The two-hour concert will follow 'The Howard Stern Birthday Bash: Director's Cut' special on Dec. 19. More details on the broadcast here.
