By now, you’re surely aware of the enormous undertaking the New Basement Tapes’ record, ‘Lost On the River,’ is -- five all-star musicians joined forces to put music to long lost Bob Dylan lyrics. The record is out now (vinyl coming on Nov. 24), so it only makes sense that Jim James, Marcus Mumford, Elvis Costello, Taylor Goldsmith and Rhiannon Giddens hit the road to promote their experiment.

Their first stop on their journey was ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,’ and now, you can check out their recent appearance on ‘Ellen,’ in the video above.

Ellen DeGeneres nails the essence of the New Basement Tapes with her introduction, saying they “may be the coolest group of musicians ever brought together on our stage.” With Mumford front and center, the New Basement Tapes plow through one of the best tracks from the new record, ‘Kansas City.’

They’re next set to perform on Nov. 19 on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ -- and following that show, on Nov. 21, Showtime premieres ‘Lost Songs: The Basement Tapes Continued,’ a new film that documents the creation of ‘Lost On the River.’
