Pope Francis Books Patti Smith to Sing at the Vatican Christmas Concert
Pope Francis has upped his "cool factor" once again by announcing that Patti Smith has been added to the lineup for this year's Vatican Christmas Concert.
According to the International Business Times, Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera reported that the Pope personally invited the punk singer to perform at the Auditorium Conciliazione in Rome on Dec. 13.
Despite her 1975 song, 'Gloria,' where she sings, "Jesus died for somebody's sins, but not mine," Smith and Pope Francis met and shook hands when Smith visited St. Peter's Square and stood on in the crowd during the weekly general audience meeting in April 2013.
The televised event will also feature performances from DJ Bob Sinclar and Italian 'singing nun,' Sister Cristina Scuccia, who covered Madonna on the Italian version of 'The Voice.'
