Thurston Moore Announces New Album ‘Rock n Roll Consciousness,’ Releases First Track
Former Sonic Youth frontman Thurston Moore has completed a new solo album called Rock n Roll Consciousness, and he's sharing an advance track called "Smoke of Dreams."
Due on April 28, Rock n Roll Consciousness follows the February release of a stand-alone track called "Cease Fire" which argued against violence. Paul Epworth (Paul McCartney, Adele) produced this new five-song project, during sessions at London's Church Studios. Moore was joined by regular collaborators Steve Shelley of Sonic Youth and Debbie Googe from My Bloody Valentine.
Moore is also set to take part in a special tribute concert celebrating the 50th anniversary of Can on April 8 at the Barbican Centre in London. His most recent solo album was 2014's The Best Day.
