Hopefully, Vampire Weekend fans out there who circled May 7 on the calendar did so in pencil. That's because the New York City band has pushed back the release date of their new album, 'Modern Vampires of the City,' by one week, to May 14.

No reason for the delay was given, although Consequence of Sound certainly made us laugh with the suggestion that "the prospects of facing off against Rod Stewart were just too daunting." Stewart's first album of new material in nearly 20 years drops that same day, and on that tip, we'd also point out that country stars Lady Antebellum and indie duo She and Him have May 7 releases scheduled, so do as thou whilst with that tidbit.

Meanwhile, VW have announced an April 28 hometown gig at NYC's Roseland Ballroom, with tickets set to go on sale Saturday (March 30). The band's 2013 tour kicks off April 12 in Las Vegas and includes dates on and off through an Aug. 9 gig at the Squamish Music Festival in Squamish, British Columbia. Check out the full updated schedule here.
