Watch Brandon Flowers Cover the White Stripes + Spoon
While in Detroit for his headlining set at this year’s Mo Pop Festival, Brandon Flowers channeled his very best Jack White and Britt Daniel when he delivered two excellent covers of the singers' hit songs.
Flowers played the first night of Mo Pop yesterday (July 25), and he treated concertgoers to hometown rockers the White Stripes’ White Blood Cells classic, “Fell in Love With a Girl.” And prior to his set, as Stereogum points out, Flowers also covered Spoon’s Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga single, “The Underdog,” during his rehearsal. Check out fan-shot clips of Flowers’ renditions below and then compare them to the originals at the bottom of the page.
Flowers’ tour continues tonight (July 26) at the WayHome Music and Arts Festival in Oro-Medonte, Ontario. He has headlining dates and a few more festival appearances lined up through mid-October. Check out a complete list of his upcoming stops on his website.
The sometime Killers frontman dropped his second solo effort, The Desired Effect, back in May, following 2010’s Flamingo. Flowers just unveiled a live video for the newly minted LP’s fourth single, “I Can Change,” earlier this week.
