Damon Albarn + Noel Gallagher Form Britpop Supergroup for Paul Simonon’s Birthday
The Clash bassist Paul Simonon celebrated his forthcoming 60th birthday in style, inviting former Britpop rivals Damon Albarn and Noel Gallagher to form a one-time supergroup for the occasion.
Accompanied by the Pretenders’ Chrissie Hynde, the Blur and Oasis leaders played a set list that included the Clash’s “Guns of Brixton,” “I Fought the Law,” “Brand New Cadillac” and “Janie Jones”; Gorillaz’s “DARE” and “Clint Eastwood”; and the Good the Bad & the Queen’s (the supergroup featuring Albarn and Simonon) “Kingdom of Doom.” You can see the complete set list, plus fan-shot clips from “DARE” and “Brand New Cadillac,” below:
This isn't the only common ground Albarn and Gallagher have found since burying their mid-'90s chart feud -- they both also don't really dig Adele.
