Back in May, actor Ewan McGregor starred in Catfish and the Bottlemen's fantastic video for their song "Hourglass," in which the band's frontman Van McCann steals McGregor's recorder, which contains a recording for the track, which McCann then makes his own. Today (July 3), the band released McGregor's version of the song as a standalone video, which you can watch below.

McGregor gives a competent performance, thanks in part to his roles in various Broadway productions and musical films like Moulin Rouge!. McCann said of working with the actor:

Honestly, working with Sir Ewan was one of the funnest things I think I'll ever get to do. He's the most interesting and interested guy I've ever met. He's just f---ing brilliant. Total gentleman! When people tell you not to meet the people you look up to, f--- that!

He genuinely buzzes off the band. Sends me photos of him listening to us before he walks onstage on his endless run of sold out Broadway. And he likes my lyrics! Honestly, I love him. It all makes me laugh my head off!

Catfish and the Bottlemen released their debut album, The Balcony, on Sept. 12, 2014. Diffuser had the chance to speak with the group earlier this year, so don't miss our exclusive interview here.
