Before he was the drummer for the Foo Fighters (or even the drummer for Alanis Morissette) Taylor Hawkins was already quite the prodigy. That much is evident in his performance at his high school’s Battle of the Bands in the late ‘80s.

A video of a 15-year-old Hawkins performing Van Halen’s “Panama” has surfaced online, and it proves the Foos drummer was already well beyond his years in the 9th grade. The Laguan Beach High School audience absolutely loses it for Hawkins and company and rightfully so -- Hawkins’ drumming is excellent. The hair, fringe jackets and Hawkins' bow tie are also top notch. See for yourself in the video up above.

Foo Fighters’ North American tour will continue tomorrow (Aug. 12) in Calgary. They will also appear at Mumford and Sons’ Gentlemen of the Road Stopover in Walla Walla, Wash., on Aug. 14 and Austin City Limits’ dual weekends on Oct. 2 and 9. See a complete list of upcoming dates at this location.

Recently, 1,000 Foos fans in Cesena, Italy, organized and filmed a mass performance of “Learn to Fly,” effectively convincing the band to play a concert in the Italian town.
