Watch In the Valley Below Perform ‘Peaches’ + ‘Neverminders’ at Brooklyn Concert

Last month, California indie-rockers In the Valley Below partnered with FIAT for a show at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn, bringing the tunes from their addictive 2013 debut, The Belt, to a packed house at the New York City venue.

The intimate show was a hard-to-get ticket, but if you weren’t able make the July 14 concert, you can now see a few choice clips from the band’s performance, including Belt’s lead-off track, “Peaches” (see above), and album single, “Neverminders,” which can be found at the bottom of the page.

The Echo Park-hailing duo features Jeffrey Jacob Mendel and Angela Gail Mattson, who have been hard at work on a virtually non-stop tour behind their inaugural LP. Nevertheless, that doesn’t stop the pair from recognizing the small joys in traveling the country.

“It’s not just the destinations, either,” Mattson says in an interview, which you can watch in its entirety above. “It’s driving across the country and seeing all the beautiful scenery.”

Mendel adds that their travels also serve as creative fodder for new In the Valley Below material.

“Sometimes we’ll be driving around and you’ll just see a random sign on a store that has unusual phrasing or random names of small towns, and there’s a certain poetic quality to some of those things that you come across,” he says. “Those definitely are good sparks for songwriting.”

The Belt is out now; you can grab a copy over at iTunes. More recently, the band released an EP featuring “Peaches” remixes created by the likes of Passion Pit, Bloc Party’s Kele Okereke and more, which can be purchased right here.
