Every year, the staff of world-renowned hip-hop magazine XXL choose 10 rappers who they think have the potential to be the next big thing; this select group is dubbed the XXL Freshman Class.

This is the definitive new artist curation in the hip-hop world; if you need further convincing, take a look at just a fraction of some of the magazine's past picks: Lupe Fiasco (2008), B.o.B. (2009), Wiz Khalifa (2010), Kendrick Lamar (2011), Iggy Azalea (2012), Action Bronson (2013) and Chance the Rapper (2014).

In order to be considered for the XXL Freshman Class, an artist can't have any full-length albums out (EPs, singles and mixtapes are fine). So, who made the cut for this year's class? Check out the lineup below:
