Record Store Day: Animal Collective Sound Collage
Two years ago Animal Collective collaborated with video / instillation artist Danny Perez to make a sonic instillation at the Guggenheim Museum in New York. Titled ‘Transverse Temporal Gyrus,’ the piece featured individual songs by each member of the band randomized and recombined by a computer program, running through 36 speakers throughout the museum. This release will put together snippets of those originals into a collage, as well as live tracks that never made it outside of the museum.
