Exclusive Premiere: 311, ‘Come Original’ (Pre-Production Version) + ‘Archive’ Giveaway
It may be hard to believe, but 311 are celebrating their 25th year as a band in 2015 -- and to commemorate this momentous milestone, the legendary alt-rockers are releasing a career-spanning four-CD box set, 311 -- Archive, on June 29 via Volcano Entertainment and Legacy Recordings.
Today (June 25), Diffuser couldn't be more excited to partner with 311 to premiere a previously unreleased version of "Come Original" -- take it for a spin in the audio player below.
The 1999 "pre-production version" of the track is featured on the third disc of Archive; the pummeling guitars and powerful rhythm are clear indications of what 311 would eventually create with the Soundsystem tune.
"In 1998, SA and I took a trip to Jamaica to get inspired and see the real underground origins of reggae music," 311 frontman Nick Hexum tells us. "We ventured deep into the locals-only soundsystem street parties. We were out of place, but nobody seemed to care. Beenie Man and Mr. Vegas were dominating the dancehall scene -- they held dance and rapping contests that were quite a sight to see. They are all about originality there. We came home and wrote 'Come Original,' which has become a live staple for us ever since."
In addition to the unveiling of this never-before-heard interpretation of "Come Original," we are thrilled to give you the chance to score a copy of 311 -- Archive and an autographed lithograph from the band!
