There’s only one problem with attending a festival like Austin City Limits, whose lineup boasts a large number of top-name acts: figuring out who to see, especially when two of your favorite bands are performing on different stages at the same time. Although the fest is still months away, you might want to check out this year’s schedule ASAP — it’s never too early to start planning.

On Friday (Oct. 4), festival-goers will have their pick of performances by Depeche Mode, Muse, Purity Ring, Queens of the Stone Age, Kaskade, Vampire Weekend, Wild Belle, Okkervil River, Arctic Monkeys, fun., Local Natives, Pinback, Smith Westerns, Jimmy Eat World, Court Yard Hounds, Savages, School of Rock and Wild Nothing.

Saturday (Oct. 5) features sets by the Cure, Kings of Leon, Kendrick Lamar, the Bright Light Social Hour, the Weeks, the Mavericks, the Shouting Matches, Passion Pit, Wilco, the Joy Formidable, Grimes, Vintage Trouble, Silversun Pickups, Delta Rae, the Verve Pipe, HAIM, Walk the Moon, Max Frost and Hundred Waters.

Sunday (Oct. 6) brings the likes of Atoms for Peace, Lionel Richie, Neko Case, Tame Impala, Shuggie Otis, Phoenix, Phosphorescent, Eric Church, the National, White Denim, Divine Fits, Toro Y Moi, the Lone Bellow, Dawes, Typhoon and Foxygen.

Whew. And that’s just the first weekend!

Most bands are playing on both weekends, but several local artists will appear solely on the second one (Oct. 11-13), among them Royale, Shakey Graves, Not in the Face, Sons of Fathers, the Preservation, Luella and the Sun, CALEB, Whiskey Shivers, Cherub, X Ambassadors, Tyree Morris and Hearts of Worship, My Jerusalem, Andrew Duhon, Shannon LaBrie and Heavenly Voices Choir.
